When I was in school, there were two entrances from the back where students would enter. There were never any instructions to do this, nor was there anything posted, but the entrances had the effect of segregating the students by sex. Girls would enter in the north door and boys by the southern one. I find old schools like Parkdale here with their sculpted letters to establish that kind of segregation to be charming and odd.
